European Life After Stroke Forum 10-11 March 2025

Why the European Life After Stroke Forum?

Stroke is one of the most common causes of death and a leading cause of adult disability in the European Union.

The Stroke Action Plan for Europe 2018–2030 highlighted significant gaps in research, policy development, and resources for life after stroke and that the needs of stroke survivors and their carers after rehabilitation remain poorly defined.

To date, there has been a lack of conferences, workshops and networking events dedicated to life after stroke. To address these challenges, the Stroke Alliance for Europe (SAFE) launched the European Life After Stroke Forum in 2019.

Who is the European Life After Stroke Forum for?

It is our goal to provide a unique platform where healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers and those affected by stroke can come together to address the issues of life after stroke.

The forum features a programme filled with the latest research and best practice, with the voices of people with lived experience at its heart. With this mix of knowledge and real-life stories we want to inspire and motivate our attendees, and ultimately empower them to make impactful changes in their countries.

Together, we will drive the improvement of life after stroke care and support across Europe forward.

Why should you attend the Forum?

What previous delegates say:

“The Forum was a powerful reminder of the shared challenges and triumphs within the stroke rehabilitation community. It reinforced that even a modest initiative can have a profound impact on those affected by stroke. We also loved the Forum’s inclusive nature, creating a holistic view of the post-stroke experience.”

“[I liked how there was a] strong patient voice and the sense that the agenda was driven by the patients.”

“It was very well organised, and all the stroke survivors’ stories were so powerful. All the talks I attended were excellent.”
