Dr Jo White

Dr Jo White is Senior Research Fellow and Theme Lead for Public Involvement and Co-production in Research at the Centre for Public Health and Wellbeing at the University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol, UK. She is an ethnographer and qualitative research expert with longstanding experience, in the UK and overseas, in applied research aimed at improving health service quality and inclusivity and addressing health inequalities.
She was Co-lead of the Inclusivity in Stroke Self-Management Support Project (ISSMAS) which co-designed resources to improve self-management by Black African and Afro-Caribbean communities living with stroke in England. New follow-on work she is leading is focused on creating ‘cultural safety’ in stroke services in the UK, which includes the co-production and evaluation of a learning and training intervention for healthcare professionals.
