Professor Maja Steinlin

Maja Steinlin is an emerited professor for Paediatric Neurology of the University of Bern, Switzerland. She was the head of Paediatric Neurology in Bern for 23 years.
Her special interests are in paediatric stroke. She initiated the Swiss Neuropaediatric Stroke Registry (SNPSR). Since 2000 all children living in Switzerland and suffering an acute stroke are registered in the SNPSR. So far, the register has more than 1000 children included and more than 50 publications came out of this data set. She is the principal investigator of the PASTA study (Paediatric arteriopathy steroid aspirin trial), a randomised controlled study on evaluating the use of steroids in focal arteriopathy of the inflammatory type. Beside that her special interests are acute management in paediatric stroke, especially recanalization but also outcome and long term problems of children after stroke.
