Simona Sacco is professor of Neurology at the University of L’Aquila in Italy and Director of the local Clinical Neurology and Stroke Unit. Dr. Sacco is author of more than 350 publications in the field of stroke and headache.  She is the president of the European Stroke Organisation (ESO). She has extensive editorial activity and has the role of Editor-in-Chief of Cephalalgia and Cephalalgia reports; she is also assistant editor for Stroke, member of the editorial board of Neurology, European Stroke Journal and International Journal of Stroke. She has chaired the EHF Guideline on the use of monoclonal antibodies targeting the CGRP for migraine prevention, the EHF consensus on resistant and refractory migraine and the EHF consensus on triptan non-responders.  

Simona Sacco è professore ordinario di Neurologia (MED/26) presso l’Università degli Studi dell’Aquila, direttrice della Scuola di Specializzazione in Neurologia, direttrice della UOC di Neurologia e Stroke Unit Avezzano-Sulmona e direttrice ad interim della UOSD di Neurologia e Stroke Unit dell’Aquila. Ha maturato una solida esperienza clinica, gestionale e di ricerca nell’ambito delle cefalee e dell’ictus cerebrale con competenze riconosciute in ambito nazionale ed internazionale. Riveste il ruolo di presidente per il biennio 2024-2026 della European Stroke Organisation (ESO) ed il ruolo di Editor-in-Chief di Cephalalgia e Cephalalgia Reports, riviste ufficiali della International Headache Society (IHS), a partire dal 2024  I principali prodotti della attività scientifica sono visualizzbili al link seguente: https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&view_op=list_works&email_for_op=simona.sacco%40cc.univaq.it&invitation_id=1852052489965380255&user=rmJhtQ8AAAAJ
